Maybe try this and this? {Happy Weekend}

Happy Weekend to all of you out there, in the cyber world.
Sometimes I wish I had a small, animated me, who could jump out of the screen when you land on my page.  I'd love to sit and say hi and see who you are.
Who are you, out there?
I know who some of you are but I always wonder about that person who never says a word.

Quiet as a church mouse.
Hello to you, church mouse.

It's the weekend and if you have a free moment, you could always make a new dish.  Even if you don't think you can cook.  Or if you don't normally.  It's fun to sit down with a bowl of something you made wiht your own hands {no offense to Chipotle} and watch the evening news.
A bizarre sense of adulthood and satisfaction.

I made something fun tonight and it turned out smashing.  I used what I had in my fridge and I think you should give it a try.  Why the heck not, right?

Rachel's Brussel Sprout Salad with all the things in it.

Grab some brussel sprouts {Seriously. You might just like this.}
Cut them in half and stem them.
Turn on broiler.
Warm up some olive oil on medium heat in the largest skillet you have.

Put about 20 of the brussels in a skillet {the bigger the better, to give them room}. Flat side down.  With some olive oil on medium heat.  Cook them for about 2 minutes. Then add some Cranberries.  Or cran raisins.  Or raisins.  Cook for maybe another minute.
Then throw the entire skillet in the broiler for about 4 minutes.
It will get ooeygooey and the crans/raisins will start to pop and sizzle.
Take it out.
Throw it in a bowl with {you can use any/all/none of these}:
Gorgonzola cheese
Cooked rice or barley
Olive oil
Balsamic vinegerette
Any toasted nuts you have on hand.

Really, you can do whatever you like and I have a feeling it would be delicious.
I ate mine out of a large bowl and couldn't stop, which was alright with me because I didn't have the greatest day, really.  I should have gone out for a run, but it's so blasted hot here, in So Cal.  It made more sense to wear loose pants and eat a large Pyrex bowl, full of salad.

At any rate...I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the beauty of home and family and the goodness that is at your fingertips.

Oh and you should really go buy The Lumineers entire album.  Never heard of them?
You're welcome.

  1. Rachel, I've made that before! It is SOOOO good! I found a recipe toward last Thanksgiving and brought it to my mother-in-law's and everyone loved it! Good choice, my friend ... good choice!

    Can't wait to hear The Lumineers...this house is so beautifully quiet right now though {The Man and The Boy are asleep}, I don't dare click "play"!

    Happy Weekend! xo

    1. You really will love them. Very calm and melodic. I was playing it last night, while washing dishes and it made the task a bit easier.

  2. Hmmm... brussel sprout salad. I am not normally a sprout kinda person, but I might have to try this. It looks delicious!
    And I know just how you feel with your visitors. I always want to know who they are. I want to sit and have coffee with them and get to know them. :) Maybe someday!

  3. Love this band! Thank you for sharing! I am lazy when it comes to music but I want to be better about that because so many times it affects my moods. A great song can turn it all around sometimes! xoxo Hope you are having a smashing weekend! ;)
